Saanich Passive House

Saanich BC
Proposed 2015

Located on a gently sloping suburban site in Saanich, this custom residence was designed to accommodate a young family of 4 while targetting the International Passive House standard for extremely low energy use and high comfort on a budget of $200/SF. The 2 level wood framed house has a very simple, efficient form overall but includes a front porch and south facing deck with canopies to provide shelter and summer shading for year round outdoor use. As with any Passive House, the design is compact and employs high insulation levels and airtightness to achieve energy use in the order of 10-15% of a typical new house built today.

To find out more about the Passive House standard please refer to the Passive House Canada and/or International Passive House Institute websites.
