Metchosin Residence

This custom family house is located on a two acre rural site near Victoria and was designed to accommodate a woodworker and his family of 5 plus a self contained suite which opens out to grade at the lower level. The house structure is a true mortise and tenon timber frame utilizing old growth douglas fir members salvaged from the former Yarrows shipyard in Esquimalt. The 4 level house has many custom features including site built wood windows, 8 foot high french doors, wrought iron porch and stair balustrades plus a Tulikivi soapstone fireplace/bakeoven located in the centre of the house to optimize heating efficiency.
