Saanich Passive House

Located on a gently sloping suburban site in Saanich, this private residence was designed to accommodate a young family of 4 while targetting the International Passive House standard for low energy use and high comfort on a budget of $225/SF. The 2 level wood framed house has a compact simple form plus a front porch and south facing deck with canopies to provide shelter and summer shading for year round use. As with any Passive House, the design features high insulation levels and airtightness to achieve energy use in the order of 10-15% of a typical new house built in 2015.
